This thread is a bit of an experiment. I am not proposing a new game (yet) but I want some help with a world idea I have been kicking around for a while.
The Premise goes a little something like this:
Several hundreds of years ago the wizards took over. They insidiously turned the populous against the druidic groves. Eventually they outlawed the practice of Druidic (Primal power source) magic. In there zelotry to gain absolute control they also outlawed Mind Magic (Psionics) as well (but those that manifest psionic power are enslaved at birth). The council of the Arcane only embraced divine powers as long as they furthered the conquest of the world yet most priests joined with the mages, fearing the same treatment as the nature loving "rebels."
Today the massive cities sit in the midst of thick jungle. The vast majority of the people of this world congregate in the cities and adhere to the doctrines of the Magicians. Arcane and Divine magics are enmeshed and have been generally turned to unsavory goals. The ruling Mageocracy pushes for extermination of the last remaining druids (and other primal classes) outside the walls.
In the several hundred years since the Pogram (Name up for change) the Jungles and forests have engulfed most of the world that is not city now. The Mageocracy made a terrible mistake (that they have not realized) because all this new life force has only strengthened the Primal Powers. An organized resistance form a while back and is getting ready to assault their first City-State.
Psionic thralls have infiltrated the organization and the assault is doomed to fail.
- Humans and Eladrin are majority rulers. Tieflings are a subset of humans involved with the more evil gods.
- Dwarves and Halflings are slave races. Few exist outside the walls and many suspect that they are the products of breeding programs run by the Mageocracy.
- Warforged and Shardmind are magicaly created slave machines with a conciousness
Forest/Jungle: Most other races
- Majority: Elf, Half-Elf,Wilden, Gnome, Dragonborn, Shifters
What the setting needs:
This setting needs places, people, locations to adventure, political intrigue, history of the races and the world...
Really everything you can imagine. Anything above I have described is open for change. I don't want to own this setting, I just wanted to present a skeleton to be fleshed out.
